Appeal of Greg VanWert to a Fire Inspection Correction Notice and Vacant Building Registration Notice at 295 LARCH STREET.
Date/Time of 1st LH: November 8, 2016 2:30 PM
Purpose of Appeal: Fire inspector did not schedule a time and date for the inspection. His letter said he woudl be inspecting the building on or after October 13, 2016. On the morning of October 13, 2016, he at 7:47 am he called Mitchell Imherson . He didn't answer. He left a messag for him to call to verfy the exact date and time that he was coming. He never called back. Virgil Thomas (building inspector) had gven temporary occupancy. On November 1, Virgil Thomas inspected the property. He said "the building passed the inspection." He also said he can't file it because of the vacant building status. On Nov. 2 it was brought to his attention there is an open boiler permit (mechanical). Christy the inspector said everything was fine. It was his understanding the permit was closed. That was months ago. What can he do to get a certificate of occupancy? All of the work is completed.

WHEREAS, in the matter of Appeal of Greg VanWert to a Fire Inspection Correction Notice and Vacant Building Registration Notice at 295 LARCH STREET,the Legislative Hearing Officer has reviewed the appeal and considered the testimony of City staff and the appellant;
WHEREAS, the Legislative Hearing Officer recommends that the City Council grant the appeal on the vacant building requirement, thus returning it to the Fire Certificate of Occupancy Program for monitoring (noting that only some uses of the building and site are currently allowable); Now, Therefore, Be It
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts and adopts the Legislative Hearing Officer's recommendation in this matter.
