Appeal of Chee Xiong to a Vacant Building Registration Notice at 1151 GERANIUM AVENUE EAST.

Purpose of Appeal: Please remove the vacant building fee because this condemnation was caused by the tenants. I filed the eviction back in October 2020, but the judge did not grant the eviction because of COVID-19 and the Governor ordered not to evict. I lost my job this month because of this eviction issue. I lost rental money to these tenants for 6 months. I still have to fix this house to meet DSI codes. I don't have money to pay the vacant fee. Please help to void and forgive. (paraphrased)

WHEREAS, in the matter of the Appeal of Chee Xiong to a Vacant Building Registration Notice at 1151 GERANIUM AVENUE EAST, the Legislative Hearing Officer has reviewed the appeal and considered the testimony of City staff and the appellant; and
WHEREAS, the Legislative Hearing Officer recommends that the City Council waive the vacant building fee for 90 days to get Fire Certificate of Occupancy reinstated by May 15, 2021 and if not reinstated, property will be a Category 2 Vacant Building and subject to a code compliance inspection; Now, Therefore, Be It
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts and adopts the Legislative Hearing Officer's recommendation in this matter.
