TITLE

Authorizing the Police Department to enter into a grant agreement with the Office of National Drug Control Policy for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program, and amending the 2020 budget and activity budget.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) has been awarded funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program (HIDTA) in the amount of $194,167; and

 

WHEREAS, the HIDTA program provides assistance to law enforcement agencies operating in areas determined to be critical drug-trafficking regions of the United States; and

 

WHEREAS, these funds will be used to continue the Department’s efforts to achieve the performance goals established and approved by the HIDTA executive board; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2020 budget and activity budget need to be amended for this grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation total revenues in excess of those estimated in the budget, funds of $194,167 in the Grant Fund; now

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant award and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into an agreement and Assistant Chief Robert Thomasser to implement the attached agreement with the Office of National Drug Control Policy for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program (HIDTA).
