Approving the Mayor’s appointment of Michael Banks to the Civil Service Commission.

WHEREAS, Section 12.02 of the Saint Paul City Charter states that there shall be a Civil Service Commission consisting of three (3) members and three (3) alternates appointed by the mayor with the consent of the Saint Paul City Council and the Board of Education of Independent School District Number 625; and
WHEREAS, on February 13, 2019 the City Council passed RES 19-268 approving Mayor Carter’s reappointment of Nancy Dudley Kelly to the Civil Service Commission; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Dudley Kelly has submitted her resignation from the Civil Service Commission effective January 21, 2020; and
WHEREAS, Michael Banks has applied for appointment to the Civil Service Commission; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter, on the recommendation of staff, wishes to appoint Michael Banks to a six-year term as a member of the Civil Service Commission ending January 31, 2025; and
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council consents to the appointment of Michael Banks to the Civil Service Commission as a member for a term ending January 31, 2025; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does hereby refer the appointment of Michael Banks to the Civil Service Commission as a member of the Board of Education of Independent School District Number 625 for their approval in accordance with Section 12.02 of the Saint Paul City Charter.
