Authorizing the Saint Paul Public Library Agency to hold a volunteer recognition event.
Body
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Public Library volunteers enhance services that are provided by offering a wide variety of talents, skills and time to assist in Library programs and tasks; and
WHEREAS, about 900 adult volunteers and 100 youth volunteers contributed over 28,000 hours in 2019; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Public Library will hold a volunteer recognition dinner program at the Saint Catherine University in the Spring of 2020; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Public Library has received monies from the Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library to pay for the event; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there is a public purpose in acknowledging the contributions of volunteers and recognizing the many hours of service they donate to the SPPLA; Now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul Public Library officials are authorized to undertake the staging of the event and remit the cost not to exceed 15,000 for the event to the proper parties.
