Approving the Mayor’s appointments of Mark Pfeifer and Shannon Forney, and reappointments of Dayna Martinez and Steve Heckler to the Cultural STAR Board.

WHEREAS, RES 94-1005 and RES 13-690 state that the Cultural STAR Board shall consist of nine members with two from a large cultural organization, two from a medium sized cultural organization, one from a small cultural organization, one from a philanthropic organization, one from a Saint Paul business, and two at large members; and
WHEREAS, RES 94-1005 and RES 13-690 state that at least four members of the Cultural STAR Board must be residents of Saint Paul with the rest living and working in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, Dayna Martinez of the Ordway Center for Performing Arts and Steve Heckler of the Hot Summer Jazz Festival have applied for reappointment to an additional term on the Cultural STAR Board; and
WHEREAS, Mark Pfeifer of the Hmong Cultural Center and Shannon Forney of Workhorse Coffee have applied to be members of the Cultural STAR Board; and
WHEREAS, Mark Pfeifer and Shannon Forney respective represent a medium sized cultural organization and a Saint Paul business and both are residents of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, on Dayna Martinez and Steve Heckler represent respectively a large cultural organization and a medium size cultural organization; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter wishes to appoint Mark Pfeifer and Shannon Forney to a three-year term on the Cultural STAR Board; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter wishes to reappoint Dayna Martinez and Mark Pfeifer to a three-year term on the Cultural STAR Board; and
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council consents to the appointment of Mark Pfeifer and Shannon Forney to a three year appointment to the Cultural STAR Board and reappointment of Dayna Martinez and Steve Heckler to a three year term on the Cultural STAR Board with terms ending December 31, 2021.
