Approving the Mayor’s appointment of Gaye Adams Massey to a two-year term on the Workforce Innovation Board.
Body
WHEREAS, local workforce development boards are required entities under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to provide oversight for the public workforce system; and
WHEREAS, The Workforce Innovation Board is made up of thirty-three (33) members representing Business, Community-Based Organizations, One-Stop Workforce Center Partners, Labor, Economic Development, Education, and Elected Officials; and
WHEREAS, Gaye Adams Massey has applied for consideration for appointment to the Workforce Improvement Board as a representative from a community-based organization that provides workforce training programming, and
WHEREAS, Gaye Adams Massey has been recommended by the Workforce Innovation Executive Committee for appointment to one of five vacant seats on the Workforce Innovation Board to which the Mayor of Saint Paul makes appoints, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter wishes to appoint Gaye Adams Massey to the Workforce Innovation Board to a two-year term beginning on August 1, 2018 and ending on July 31, 2020; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council consents to the appointment of Gaye Adams Massey to the Workforce Innovation Board to a two-year term beginning on August 1, 2018 and ending on July 31, 2020.
