WHEREAS, in the matter of the Appeal of Caryl L. Kruchowski to a Fire Inspection Correction Notice at 598 GRAND AVENUE, the Legislative Hearing Officer has reviewed the appeal and considered the testimony of City staff and the appellant; and
WHEREAS, the Legislative Hearing Officer recommends that the City Council grant to January 1, 2018 for the fire door replacement; grant the appeal on the bedroom with an egress leading to the enclosed porch, as 1) there is an inter-connected smoke alarm system in the porch providing earlier notice of a fire in one of the egress paths; and 2) the wall to the living room is approximately 35% open to the rest of the apartment and exits, thus the apartment is more a studio than a 1-bedroom with respect to egress issues; and 3) there may be no storage on the porch, although limited furniture is acceptable; Now, Therefore, Be It
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts and adopts the Legislative Hearing Officer's recommendation in this matter.
