Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks & Recreation is requesting permission to apply for and accept $101,479 in grant funds from the F.R. Bigelow Foundation, Otto Bremer Trust, Saint Paul Foundation and the Pohlad Family Foundation to support the Right Track youth employment program; and

WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will provide wages for Right Track youth working in summer jobs and internships; and

WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will provide summer job coaches for Right Track youth working in summer internships; and

WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will support a partnership with the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce to take an increased role in recruiting businesses to hire youth for Right Track internships; and

WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will support the creation of new marketing content and materials to promote Right Track to the community; and

WHEREAS, the grant funds if awarded, will require a contract with the F.R. Bigelow Foundation, Otto Bremer Trust, Saint Paul Foundation and the Pohlad Family Foundation in which the City will be required to indemnify each foundation, its board, its agents, and employees from any and all claims or causes of action arising from or relating in any way to the grant activities by the City or City’s agents or employees; and

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of funds, which includes promise of indemnification, for the purpose of receiving the grants and achieving these goals has a public purpose; now, therefore, be it
