Approving the FY2015 Innovation Fund allocation.

Body
WHEREAS, community engagement through a network of seventeen district councils is a cornerstone of Saint Paul's planning, policy development, neighborhood revitalization and crime prevention efforts; and
WHEREAS, on December 11, 2013, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul established an Innovation Fund to allow district councils and other related community-based organizations to explore innovative means of engaging the community and allocated $67,711 to this fund for its first funding round in 2015; and
WHEREAS, during 2014 a planning advisory committee representing neighborhoods and city staff developed guidelines for the fund, including provision for stipends for nonprofit organizations participating on the advisory committee reviewing proposals; and
WHEREAS, the 2015 Innovation Fund advisory committee reviewed ideas and proposals, and recommended disbursement of $67,000 in funds for the 2015 round; now be it
RESOLVED, upon recommendation of the Mayor, and with the advice of the 2015 Innovation Fund Advisory Committee, the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby approves funding of the First (1st) Cycle Innovation Fund Grant projects, totaling $60,150 as identified in Attachment A; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby approves funding for $1,000 stipends for nonprofit organizations with representatives participating on the 2015 Innovation Fund Advisory Committee, for a total of $5,000, as identified in Attachment B, in recognition of the commitment of time spent in advising the 2015 Innovation Fund cycle; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby approves funding of $1,850 in 2015 Innovation Funds to be available for the purposes of planning and promoting the district council system's 40th anniversary in October 2015.
