Authorizing the Police Department to accept grants in the amount of $32,660 from the Saint Paul Police Foundation for various departmental needs.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation was formed in 2005 to help the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) in many ways including insuring that public safety for our citizens remains the number one priority for our city; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation board of directors has approved the granting/donation of $32,660 to the SPPD, and
WHEREAS, the SPPD would like to accept the donation; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose served is that $5,000 will be used for the Saint Paul Police Explorers program which allows young people an opportunity to belong to a time tested organization which contributes to the community in which they live; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose served is that $27,160 will be used for the St. Paul Police Activities League (PAL) for the Tim Jones Memorial Fitness Center; a PAL partnership project with Harding High School and $500 for the Cops and Kids program funding t-shirts to be given to the children in the hospitals; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donation and extend its sincere thanks to the Saint Paul Police Foundation.
