Authorizing the Police Department to accept $17,500 in grants from the Saint Paul Police Foundation for the Explorers program and the Family Violence Unit.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation was formed in 2005 to help the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) in many ways including insuring that public safety for our citizens remains the number one priority for our city; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation board of directors has approved the granting/donation of $17,500 to the SPPD, and
WHEREAS, the SPPD would like to accept the donation; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose served is that $5,000 will be used for the Saint Paul Police Explorers program which allows young people an opportunity to belong to a time tested organization which contributes to the community in which they live; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose served is that $12,500 will fund equipment, supplies and training for the SPPD Family Violence Unit where they will continue their efforts to follow up on high risk victims, and attend valuable training conferences to enhance investigative techniques and processes; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donation and extend its sincere thanks to the Saint Paul Police Foundation.
