Authorizing the acceptance of a deed transferring ownership of Landmark Plaza from the Riverfront Corporation to the City of Saint Paul.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Riverfront Corporation desires to convey to the City of Saint Paul certain real estate within the City that is owned by Riverfront, referred to as Landmark Plaza; and
WHEREAS, the Riverfront previously conveyed an easement in the property to the City restricting its use to park purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission considered the proposed conveyance of the land, which will continue to be subject to a deed restriction maintaining the property as a public park; and
WHEREAS, the Commission recommended that the City Council accept the property; and
WHEREAS, Landmark Plaza is an important piece of public parkland in the downtown area and the City Council believes that it is in the interests of the City to accept the conveyance and to ensure the continued use of it as parkland; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the conveyance of the property, authorizes the appropriate city officials to sign the deed, and directs the City’s Real Estate Division to record the deed with the Ramsey County Recorder’s Office.
