Title
Authorizing the Police Department to accept the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant - 2013 in the amount of $23,054 with a $2,562 match requirement from State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety for the juvenile program and to amend the 2012 budget.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department has been awarded the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant 2013 by the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety which includes an indemnification clause; and
WHEREAS, this grant provides funds to support and improve the juvenile system including reducing juvenile delinquency, improving the juvenile justice system and increase accountability for juvenile offenders; and
WHEREAS, the 2012 financing and spending plan needs to be amended for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $8,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2012 budget; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends that the following addition be made to the 2012 budget; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Chief Thomas Smith to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota which includes an indemnification clause; and
 
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves these changes to the 2012 budget.
