Amending the financing and spending plans in the Fire Department in the amount of $679,543.63 to accept the 2024 Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) to provide firefighter physicals, paramedic training, Art of Smoke training, Incident Safety Officer training, and Sleep Matter training.
Body
WHEREAS, the Fire Department has received a grant of $747,498 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighter Grant program which has a federal share of $679,543.63 and a 10% matching fund contribution of $67,954.37 to provide firefighter physicals, paramedic training, Art of Smoke training, Incident Safety Officer training, and Sleep Matter training for firefighters; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved the Fire Department applying for this grant on Resolution 24-1835; and
WHEREAS, federal law requires a 10% matching fund contribution of $67,954.37 and it will be paid from the Fire Department's budget; and
WHEREAS, the financing and spending plans have not been established for the grant received; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $679,543.63 in excess of those estimated in the 2026 budget; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the changes to the 2026 budget as specified in the attached financial analysis.
