Appeal of Doobay Bhola to a Fire Certificate of Occupancy Correction Notice at 1497 and 1499 SEVENTH STREET EAST.
Purpose of Appeal
The inspector pointed out that the dryer is too close to the furnace in the apartment. We bought this Duplex, six years ago where the washer, dryer, water heater, and the furnace are all located in the same room. This is how the Duplex was originally constructed to accommodate all four equipment in one room. The correction notice stated that we need to provide 30 inches clearance between the dryer and the furnace. Right now, there is no space in the room for the dryer to be 30 inches away from the furnace, however, both the washer and dryer are removable if someone needs to work on the furnace or water heater.
Can you please grant me a waiver because there is no other space in the apartment where the equipment can be relocated?

WHEREAS, in the matter of the Appeal of Doobay Bhola to a Fire Certificate of Occupancy Correction Notice at 1497 and 1499 SEVENTH STREET EAST, the Legislative Hearing Officer has reviewed the appeal and considered the testimony of City staff and the appellant; and
WHEREAS, the Legislative Hearing Officer recommends that the City Council deny the appeal on the required distance between the water heater, washer, dryer and furnace withiin the utility room and grant an extension until August 31, 2011 for the compliance with this requirement and painting order; Now, Therefore, Be It
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts and adopts the Legislative Hearing Officer's recommendation in this matter.
