Authorizing stipend payments for City Council hiring panel community members.

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council adopted resolution 23-969 on June 28, 2023 appointing community members to the Saint Paul Recovery Act Community Reparations Commission in accordance with ordinance 22-52; and
WHEREAS, three members of the commission participated in hiring committee activities as community advisors including in person meetings related to the hiring process for the City Council Reparations Commission and Council Committee Legislative Aide position. Be it
RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council determines it is in the public interest to provide a nominal stipend to support to these community advisors who bring valuable perspectives and whose presence builds public trust, ensures transparency and accountability; and be it further
RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council establishes a $50 stipend per meeting for hiring panel members which is intended to help defray expenses associated with providing service to the committee for their time and effort spent participating.
