Title

Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Public Library Agency to apply for funds from the Minnesota Department of Education’s Afterschool Community Learning Grant for shared community programming and transportation in Ward One, in an amount of up to $500,000, for each program year from 2024-2027.

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Education has published a Notice of Funding Availability for grants of up to $500,000 for each program year from 2024-2027 to fund Community programming and transportation in Ward One; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Saint Paul Public Library Agency have been identified as eligible to receive funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Library Agency wish to submit a grant proposal to support afterschool and summer learning opportunities for youth ages 10 to 16 years old; and

 

WHEREAS, there is no match requirement for said funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there is a public purpose in providing access to shared community programming and transportation in Ward One; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that Saint Paul City Council authorizes the appropriate City officials to apply for the competitive Minnesota Department of Education’s Afterschool Community Learning Grant.
