Authorizing expenditures for food and refreshments at the City of St. Paul Black History Month final event on February 15th at Saint Paul City Hall and on February 29th at Saint Paul Rondo Library.

WHEREAS, February 2024 is recognized as Black History Month; and
WHEREAS, Black History is our United States history. In 2024, the City of Saint Paul recognizes the dire need for accurate portrayals of the influential contributions made from Black communities; in our schools, our literature, in our production of knowledge, and in our own chamber walls; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council encourages all residents to join in recognizing the contributions and achievements of the extraordinary individuals whose work toward emancipation, justice and civil rights will encourage future generations in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds a public purpose for providing food and refreshments at these events. Providing food and refreshments will encourage attendance at the events. Improved attendance increases the number of public servants that ultimately consume presentation materials, thereby equipping said increased number of public servants with knowledge that improves their service to the community; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul Department of Safety and Inspections is hereby authorized to expend an amount not to exceed $500 for the purpose of providing food and beverages for the February 15th 2nd Black History Month event ‘Centering Mind & Body” at City Hall. The Saint Paul Office of Financial Services is hereby authorized to expend an amount not to exceed $1,000.00, the Saint Paul Office of Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity is hereby authorized to spend an amount not to exceed $1,000.00, the Saint Paul City Attorney’s Office is hereby authorized to spend an amount not to exceed $500.00, and the Saint Paul City Council is hereby authorized to spend an amount not to exceed $500.00 for the purpose of...
