Amending Section 160.04 of the Legislative Code to add Juneteenth to parking meter holidays.

SECTION 1

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul recognizes June 19 as a day to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul established Juneteenth as a City holiday on July 14, 2021; and

 

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Legislative Code designates the specific holidays on which no parking meter shall be in operation; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby ordain:

 

SECTION 2

 

Section 160.04 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code is hereby amended as follows:

No parking meter shall be in operation on Sundays nor upon the following holidays: New Year's Day (January 1 and the federally observed holiday), Martin Luther King Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth (June 19 and the federally observed holiday), Independence Day (July 4 and the federally observed holiday), Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day, Veterans Day (November 11 and the federally observed holiday), Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (December 25 and the federally observed holiday). Parking limitations imposed by parking meters shall not be in effect upon such days.

SECTION 3

 

This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days following its passage, approval, and publication.
