10/1/2025 7:20 PMAdrian Perryman For I support rehabilitation of the area. Please consider alternatives to demolishing the building. Tearing down buildings on the downtown St Paul Riverfront and the Midway Shopping Center around Allianz have led to zero development. It should be easier, cheaper, and quicker to fix an hvac system than it is to build an entirely new building. Give a small business a chance, reach out to a grocery store chain, activate the parking lot for community events. The St Paul Downtown Alliance had great success this summer by creating events and activating downtown spaces. With all the groups around Snelling and University, this should be possible. It doesn't take a complete tear down for a developer to have a vision.
9/30/2025 2:35 PMKatherine Schlasner For I've lived in Midway for about 10 years, while I currently live in Rondo--I still am reliant on midway shopping center for groceries and other essential items. While I am pro removing the CVS as it is an eye sore and a possible health hazard, I'm very invested in the community and what happens to that land after the CVS is demolished. When I moved here there was a walmart, a cub, and a target in that shopping center. With news of the cub closing and the walmart long gone, I am concerned about affordability of groceries and my continued ability to get food in the area. The CVS is on a piece of land that's easily accessible through transit and would make a good community center, we should use the space for the community that is already there and flourishing not for tourism and unaffordable housing. This could mean providing additional space for our numerous hamline-midway organizations already working to provide alternative food distribution spaces.
9/29/2025 7:53 PMLocal Resident For I support the remove of the abandoned building at 499 Snelling Avenue North. It has been a blight and contributed negatively to our neighbourhood. +2
