SR 21-168 10/10/2021 2:53 PMJames Wilkinson   I read in the report that there is a problem with not spending CDBG funds in a timely manner and risks losing $. This is not right! Among the various obligations is that the City affirmatively further fair housing. Among the ways that this can be done is to contract for fair housing education and enforcement services and I think the city does this with So MN Regional Legal Services, a very competent non-profit that directly ***ists thousands of St Paul residents who are most at risk for loss of housing, discrimination, poor conditions and the like. Please increase the allocation to SMRLS. I also suggest that it is worthwhile exploring whether CDBG money could be used to partner with Public Housing to add to the housing voucher funding to serve more people who rent in the City. While mixing into the current Section 8 program might not be possible or wise, a parallel program, perhaps with a more shallow subsidy, would be a direct benefit to those most in need.
