7/15/2026 6:54 PM	Amy Manning	Against	I oppose the planned eviction of the Pig’s Eye encampment and other homeless encampments. Evictions are costly, place already vulnerable residents at greater risk of overdose and exposure to extreme temperatures, and merely move the problems around rather than actually solving anything. Evictions also cause aid workers to fall out of touch with residents who may already be on waiting lists for housing or other services. The encampment residents and the greater community would be better served by using the funds allocated for eviction for better sanitation services (sharps disposal, more frequent port-a-potty cleaning and garbage removal), or other services that will improve quality of life for residents. Going ahead with this eviction would be cruel and inhumane, I hope the Council and Mayor Her change course for a policy that is better for public health.	+2

I have visited the encampment a few times and have always been met with kindness and strong sense of community, respect, and belonging. I was moved to see that folks have created a place to care for each other when the government has failed to support their own residents. Bulldozing peoples’ homes will only lead to more distrust and opportunities for harm. Where will they go? Why displace them? This is an empty lot anyways. Why destroy all their belongings? What’s the plan to support them? How will the wonderful organizations who have built deep relationships with these residents continue to support them when residents are scattered all over the city? Saint Paul residents demand a reversal of this decision. Please continue to allow the 400 people who live there to keep their homes that they have worked so hard to sustain and upkeep. We all deserve a safe place to call home- why take that away from anyone?	+3

Since the encampment started I’ve seen an increase in panhandling, drug use, and theft in the surrounding neighborhood. My neighbors recently had their window smashed out and car broken into. Last week I caught someone trying to steal my neighbors package outside our door. I followed him as he left and walked to the encampment.. Business owners that I’ve talked to have complained of finding used needles and drug paraphernalia.. It’s ridiculous that the city allows this. By doing so they are enabling their poor behavior to continue rather than forcing them to seek the help that they need. Please put in end to the madness. Our neighborhood deserves better.	-5

This city should be working with its residents (including those unhoused) and surrounding suburbs to create sustainable stable housing resources for those who need it. Evicting them does nothing but destroy their belongings and further destabilize their lives. They are people. They are our neighbors. They deserve respect, and only they know what is best for themselves. Where will they go after you evict them? The funds spent on evicting our neighbors over and over as they find new places to land is completely unsustainable, and a waste of resources for everyone involved. Instead, consider using the time and funds to provide water, ice, food, and other necessities during this heat wave. If you are going to lead this city well, you must take the time to know and care about ALL residents.	+2

7/14/2026 7:53 PM	Kristina Oak		When homeless encampments are cleared, neighbors lose all their belongings and are scattered across the city, where it is harder for resource groups to reach them with supplies and care. It then falls on local small businesses and individual neighbors to meet their needs, including for food, fresh clothing, space to wash up and haphazard spaces to rest. The cost of replacing the necessary supplies for these folks (tents, blankets, etc) falls on the rest of the community to donate. And so importantly, folks often lose their IDs and become further disenfranchised in encampment sweeps. The City of Saint Paul should NOT follow Minneapolis' inhumane lead and sweep the encampments. We need real, meaningful solutions for affordable housing and supportive housing options where folks can keep their pets, stay with a partner, be allowed to exist while recovering from addiction, etc. Hiding the unhoused is not a humane solution! Can we get a public task force for long-term solutions?	+4

They are constituents of this city, too. Just because they don't have an address doesn't mean they shouldn't have a voice. Using funds to make Pig's eye Park encampment safer is a better use of the city's money than to destroy everything. Folks there have built only to have to rebuild it somewhere else. The encampment will appear elsewhere. This is what happens. It's a never-ending cycle of destroying people's belongings and forcing them to re -start somewhere else. There is simply not enough shelters in the city of St. Paul to house those folks. Please consider the ramifications of your actions. Please do not destroy the pig's eye encampment. Let's set an example of how we are different than Minneapolis and treat houseless folks with the dignity they deserve.	+4
