Ord 26-18 3/11/2026 4:59 AMIan Rosenthal (Jewish Community Action) For I am writing to lend Jewish Community Action’s voice to the chorus of advocates asking St Paul to extend the pre-eviction notice period to 60 days. Those sheltering in place are terrified that even if they avoid violence at the hands of ICE, they may still be faced with the brutality of eviction. Over the last 13 weeks of this crisis, I’ve had the honor to witness and contribute to countless efforts to keep people housed. We are doing everything we can to stem the tide of displacement. But we are already seeing the limits of our local resources and we desperately need more time to fundraise. In the best of times, 30 days is hardly enough for folks to navigate and receive emergency rental ***istance. Between limited language access, alienating application processes, and the simple fact that there isn’t enough money to begin with, renters face huge obstacles to receiving aid. For this reason, we are calling on city council to unanimously p*** the pre-eviction extension.
