Accepting the gift of all travel, lodging and conference expenses, not to exceed $899, for Mayor's education staff member Jane Eastwood to attend the Good Schools Seminar on November 16 and 17, 2011 in Washington, D.C.
Body
WHEREAS, the Albert Shanker Institute has convened a meeting called the Good Schools Seminar and, under the auspices of the Saint Paul Teachers' Federation, has invited Mayor's office staff member, Jane Eastwood, to participate; and
WHEREAS, the Good Schools Seminar will meet November 16 and 17 in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, the Albert Shanker Institute has offered to pay for the flight, transportation, hotel and meal accommodations to enable Jane Eastwood to participate in the meeting; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that attendance at the meeting will fulfill a public purpose by giving the Mayor's
staff the opportunity to meet with educators throughout the country to learn about promising practices in education reform;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City accepts the gift of airfare/ground transportation/baggage at a cost not to exceed $425, dinner, lunch, breakfast and reception not to exceed $174 as well as hotel accommodations for one night not to exceed $200 (meals and hotel paid directly by the Albert Shanker Institute) and cab fares/airport parking/tips not to exceed $100 for Jane Eastwood; and
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, that the City thanks the Saint Paul Teacher Federation and the Albert Shanker Institute for this opportunity.
