Accepting the gift of travel and expenses, not to exceed $400, from the American Public Gardens Association for Department of Parks and Recreation Marjorie McNeely Conservatory staff member Bryn Fleming to travel to the Midwestern Sentinal Plant Network (SPN) workshop, October 16 to 18, 2011 in Lisle, Illinois.

WHEREAS, the midwestern SPN workshop has convened a regional meeting and invited Marjorie McNeely Conservatory Horticulturist, Bryn Fleming, to participate; and
WHEREAS, the SPN network will meet on Oct. 17 and 18, 2011 in Lisle Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the Americal Public Garden Association has offered to pay for the flight, transportation, hotel, and meal accomodations to enable Bryn Fleming to participate in the meeting; and
WHEREAS, The City Council finds that attendance at the workshop will fulfill a public purpose by giving the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory staff the opportunity to participate in a training session to advance invasive pest detection in plant collections and to develop communication protocols with other national organizations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City accepts the gift of airfare/car rental at a cost not to exceed $400.00 as well as hotel accommodations for one night (meals and one night hotel paid directly by APGA);
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City thanks the American Public Garden Association for this opportunity.
