Authorizing the Parks and Recreation program Adults 50+ to solicit and accept sponsorships from a variety of local businesses, and donations of goods and/or services to be used as incentives and door prizes.
Body
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation offers a variety of programs for adults over age 50; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation Program for Adults age 50+ would like to recruit more people to participate in fitness, leisure and recreation programs; and
WHEREAS, many older adults are on a fixed income and many of the expenses incurred in creating and running recreation programs for Adults
50+ are unsupported expenses (not included in the registration fees charged to the participants); and
WHEREAS,  the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Program for Adults 50+ wishes to solicit and accept sponsorships from a variety of local businesses for larger events, as well as donations of goods and/or services to be used as incentives and door prizes, and
WHEREAS,  Saint Paul Administrative Code ยง41.04(c) allows solicitations in the amount of $500.00 or less by a department head or designee on behalf of the city or city sponsored functions or organizations; and
WHEREAS,  the Council finds that solicitation of funds for the support of programming for adults over the age of 50 is appropriate; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,  that the Director of Parks and Recreation or his designee is authorized to solicit donations in an amount of $500.00 or less for the purpose of supporting events and activities for the Adults 50+ programming; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED,  that the Director shall file either the name of title of the individual designated to solicit such funds with the city clerk; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED,  that a quarterly report of all solicitiations shall be made to the Mayor, the city clerk and to each councilperson.
