Accepting gifts of reimbursement for all travel expenses from Living Cities Learning Community for Deputy Mayor Paul Williams to attend the Living Cities Conference in Washington, D.C., October 4-6, 2011.

WHEREAS, Saint Paul Deputy Mayor Paul Williams has been invited to serve on a panel at the Living Cities Conference to take place in Washington, D.C. on October 4-6, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the Living Cities Learning Community has offered to pay the speakers for travel costs, including airfare, hotel and meals; and
WHEREAS, the conference will focus on the intersection of economic development and equity, and will offer an opportunity for the Deputy Mayor to interact with other presenters and attendees to discuss responsible economic development opportunities for the City of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that attendance by the Deputy Mayor and speaking as a panelist will benefit the City and that acceptance of the offer of travel expenses will facilitate this opportunity; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby accepts the gift of travel costs for Deputy Mayor Paul Williams to attend and speak at the Living Cities Conference to take place in Washington, D.C. on October 4-6, 2011, appropriates the money for that purpose and thanks the Living Cities Learning Community for its generous gift.
