Accepting a gift scholarship of $900.00 for Andrea Miller, Anthony Tedesco and Yamy Vang to attend the Innovations in Criminal Justice Summit, September 28-30, 2011 in Chicago, Illinois.

WHEREAS, the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (hereinafter "the APA") is a nonprofit organization founded to provide prosecutors with additional resources such as training and technical assistance in an effort to develop proactive, innovative prosecutorial practices that prevent crime, ensure equal justice and make our communities safer; and
WHEREAS, the APA, in conjunction with the Justice Department's Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Center for Court Innovation, is sponsoring a conference entitled Innovations in Criminal Justice Summit, beginning on September 28, 2011 and ending on September 30, 2011, and being held at the Palmer House Hotel, in Chicago, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the APA provides $300.00 scholarships to individuals and their jurisdictions to encourage training for practitioners of the criminal justice system; and
WHEREAS, the APA has extended $300.00 scholarships to Andrea Miller, Anthony Tedesco and Yamy Vang, all Community Prosecutors with the Saint Paul City Attorney's Office, to attend the Innovations in Criminal Justice Summit; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of scholarships being extended by the APA to the City of Saint Paul is $900.00; and
WHEREAS, the Innovations in Criminal Justice Summit conference will train prosecutors on innovative tools and practices used to address livability issues as well as provide prosecutors with the requisite skills to strengthen links between the criminal justice system and the community while promoting partnership building and encouraging problem-solving strategies;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul along with the Saint Paul City Attorney's Office gratefully accepts this gift to assist in the sending of Andrea Miller, Anthony Tedesco and Yamy Vang, to attend the Innovatio...
