Accepting the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Saint Paul and the Rocky Mountain Institute to make Saint Paul an official Project Get Ready (PGR) Partner Community.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul (the "City") is committed to opportunities to make Saint Paul one of the most sustainable cities in the United States; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul received $2,767,000 of one time funding from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) EECBG Program, with $286,000 designated primarily for the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charging stations; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has been researching and advancing its electric vehicle infrastructure deployment and seeking other funding opportunities to support this work through participation in Drive Electric Minnesota, an informal partnership of government, business, non-profit and utility entities working towards the same goals; and 

 

WHEREAS, Drive Electric Minnesota wishes to advance its work to bring electric vehicles and plug-in charging infrastructure to Minnesota by sharing information and resources with other national organizations working on similar missions; and

 

WHEREAS, Project Get Ready, led by the Rocky Mountain Institute, has been identified as a key organization with which to partner in order to advance the work of Drive Electric Minnesota and increase the national exposure of our local and regional efforts; and

 

WHEREAS, participation in Project Get Ready requires the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Rocky Mountain Institute, Drive Electric Minnesota, and a municipal partner of Drive Electric Minnesota; and

 

WHEREAS, Drive Electric Minnesota has asked if the City of Saint Paul will act as the municipal partner for purposes of executing the Memorandum of Understanding, in recognition of the City of Saint Paul's strong leadership in Drive Electric Minnesota; and

 

WHEREAS, acceptance of the Memorandum of Understanding will designate the City of Saint Paul as the "Regional Authority" within the partnership, with responsibility for supporting Drive Electric Minnesota in convening key stakeholders, participating in meetings and working groups, and authorizing the Rocky Mountain to list Saint Paul as an official Partner Community on the Project Get Ready website; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul desires to support Drive Electric Minnesota in joining Project Get Ready by entering into this agreement and has agreed to all material terms thereto; now, therefore, be it 

 

RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, that Mayor Chris Coleman, as Chief Executive of the City of Saint Paul, is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Rocky Mountain Institute and Drive Electric Minnesota to become a Project Get Ready Partner Community; and be it finally

 

RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul will continue its ongoing work toward transportation electrification through participation in Drive Electric Minnesota and Project Get Ready.
