Body
WHEREAS, the 2011 National Crime Victim's Conference (NCVC) was held in Washington DC on June 20-22, 2011; and
 
WHEREAS, the NCVC is a forum for criminal justice practitioners to share current developments and build new collaborations; and
 
WHEREAS, Tara Patet, Senior Prosecutor in the Criminal Division of the City Attorney's Office, was selected by the National Center for Victims of Crime to attend the conference and give a presentation on St. Paul's development and implementation of the St. Paul Blueprint for Safety; and
WHEREAS, the National Center for Victims of Crime wishes to award a conference fee and lodging scholarship for the conference and 1 night lodging to Tara Patet; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of this tuition and 1 nights lodging scholarship is $390; and
 
WHEREAS, Praxis International wishes to fund the remaining costs associated with Ms. Patet's conference attendance;
WHEREAS, those costs are $150 for airfare, $15 for ground transportation, and $46.31 for meals; and
 
WHEREAS, the conference will provide useful training on domestic violence prosecution as well as assist Tara Patet in connecting with and learning from other national leaders in the field of domestic violence and it is recognized that stopping the cycle of domestic violence has a direct connection to public safety; now therefore be it
 
RESOLVED, that the City of St. Paul along with the St. Paul City Attorney's office gratefully accepts this scholarship and related funding gift for Tara Patet to attend and give a presentation at the National Crime Victim's Conference in Washington DC.
