Authorizing the City Attorney's office to accept a gift of a scholarship of $1,922.00 for travel, lodging and conference fee for Yamy Vang to attend the 2011 Annual Drug Court Training Conference, July 17-20, 2011 in Washington, D.C.
Body
WHEREAS, the Ramsey County Mental Health Court (RCMHC) was awarded the BJA Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program Expansion to expand its program to include felony level offenders;
WHEREAS, as a part of the grant requirement, members of the RCMHC team are required to go attend a national drug court training conference;
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, City Attorney's Office is a RCMHC team member;
WHEREAS, the 2011 Annual Drug Court Training Conference will be provided to over 3,000 Drug Court and problem-solving court professionals and will be from July 17-20, 2011, and be held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at the National Harbor in Washington, D.C.;
WHEREAS, BJA Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program Expansion will provide a scholarship to Yamy Vang, Assistant City Attorney, to cover the fee to attend the conference, expenses for travel, lodging and meals, totaling $1,922.00; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds the attendance at such training will enhance prosecution and problem solving court practices; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City accepts the gift of the above mentioned scholarship funds, and appropriates them to the purpose of travel costs to the Drug Court Training Conference training.
