Authorizing City officials to pay expenses incurred by the Public Works Department training day, Creating Passion in the Workplace.

Whereas, the City of Saint Paul and the Department of Public Works are proud of its employees, and encourages further training and education opportunities for them. The Public Works Department would like to host a training event on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Clarence W. Wigington Pavilion on Harriet Island, and;
Whereas, there will be speakers for this event, costs for speakers not to exceed $7,300. These speakers will cover work-related issues and topics, which employees can incorporate into their daily work duties, and;
Whereas, the facility Clarence W. Wigington Pavilion on Harriet Island will provide accommodations. Rental of pavilion will not exceed $850.00, and;
Whereas, Midway Party Rental, Inc., is providing a tent with the rental not to exceed $2,200 and;
Whereas, Aesop's Table will provide a catered lunch with the cost not to exceed $4,500, and;
 
Whereas, miscellaneous costs for such items as table coverings, beverages and snacks, and conference supplies will not exceed $500.00, and;
 
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized to pay expenses incurred to host this event.
Total cost of the conference which is a half day conference for line employees and a whole day for managers and their senior staff will not exceed $15,350, which will be disbursed from funding code 255-12321-0289.
