Approving the consortium agreement for the Corridors of Opportunity: A Partnership for Sustainable Communities in the Minneapolis - Saint Paul region.

WHEREAS, Corridors of Opportunity is an initiative in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region to promote sustainable, vibrant and healthy communities, using the region's emerging transitway system as a development focus; and
WHEREAS, Corridors of Opportunity is an effort to integrate two major investments made in the region: (1) a Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and (2) a combination of loans, grants and program related investments made by Living Cities as part of The Integration Initiative; and
WHEREAS, a broad consortium of policymakers, foundations and community organizations was convened by the Metropolitan Council to guide Corridors of Opportunity investments from 2011 through 2013; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Mayor Paul Williams is a member of the Corridors of Opportunity Policy Board; and
WHEREAS, the Corridors of Opportunity Policy Board developed a Consortium Agreement for the purpose of guiding the implementation of the initiative by its twenty five lead agencies and sub-recipients; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul approves the Corridors of Opportunity Consortium Agreement as attached, and included by reference herein, and authorizes the Mayor to sign the Agreement on the City's behalf.
