Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to develop a budget to rebuild the Excedra at Como Campus using various funding sources.
 
Body
Whereas the Excedra at Como Park, built in 1929 in the Beaux Arts style of architecture, is an open columned wooden structure for outdoor seating and gathering, that is an important attraction holding numerous events every year; and
 
Whereas, the retaining wall for the Excedra collapsed due to heavy rainfall in August of 2010; and
 
Whereas, the Parks and Recreation Department needs $40,000 for the financing plan to rebuild the Excedra and the retaining wall; and
 
Whereas, the Parks and Recreation Department has determined that because of the numerous events held at this site and the Excedra's benefit to Como Campus as a whole that the Excedra be replaced and the retaining wall rebuilt as soon as possible; and
 
Whereas, Parks has analyzed all appropriate budgets and developed a plan to assemble funding from the residual from the Phalen Arch Bridge project; and
 
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $40,000 is available for appropriation of those estimated in the 2010 Capital Improvement Budget; now, therefore, be it
 
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor and the positive advice of the Long Range Capital Improvement Budget Committee, that $40,000 is available for appropriation in the 2011 Capital Improvement Budget, and said 2011 budget, as heretofore adopted by the Council, is here by further amended :
