Affirming and extending a local emergency related to the spring floods of 2011.
Body
WHEREAS, the Spring Floods of 2011 have impacted the population of the City of Saint Paul; and,
WHEREAS, the Spring Floods of 2011 are causing the City of Saint Paul to undertake Emergency Protective Measures in order to protect human life, and property within the City of Saint Paul; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of Saint Paul, Christopher B Coleman, has declared a Local Emergency effective Monday, March 14, 2011, due to escalating conditions and in response to a flood warding for the City of Saint Paul, issued by the National Weather Service; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of Saint Paul, Christopher B Coleman, requests the City Council of the City of Saint Paul to affirm and extend the March 14, 2011 Declaration of Emergency for the City of Saint Paul for the Spring Floods 2011;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul affirms the Declaration of Local Emergency issued March 14, 2011 by the Mayor of the city; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council finds that a Local Emergency does continue to exist in the City of Saint Paul, as a result of the Spring Floods of 2011 and extends the Declaration of Emergency for a period not to exceed 30 days from the date of passage, March 16, 2011.
