Authorizing the City Council to accept a gift of lodging, meals, program materials and books for Acooa Lee, Legislative Aide to Councilmember Melvin Carter III, to attend the Community Progress Leadership Institute, March 15-18, 2011 in Boston, Massachusetts.

WHEREAS, the Center for Community Progress has invited Acooa Lee, Legislative Aide to Councilmember Melvin Carter III, to participate in the Community Progress Leadership Institute, held March 15-18, 2011, in Boston, Massachusetts, for the purpose of discussing the strategies and tactics that are enabling communities to take control of vacant properties and repurpose them for the needs of the future; and
WHEREAS, the Center for Community Progress has offered to provide three nights lodging, most meals, the cost of all programs material and books, totaling no more than $2,000, for Ms. Acooa Lee to attend said event; now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Saint Paul, accepts the gift of lodging, meals, and materials from the Center for Community Progress and appropriates it to the public purpose of Ms. Acooa Lee's attendance at the Community Progress Leadership Institute; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City Council determines this to have public purpose and the Council extends its thanks and appreciation to the Center for Community Progress for its generosity and public service in this matter.
