Appeal of Gaylen Melby to a Certificate of Occupancy Re-inspection Deficiency List at 803 SNELLING AVENUE NORTH.
Purpose of Appeal
We owned this duplex bldg over 30 years. We believe it is a Group R occupancy with a total of 8 occupants in the bldg. This is the first inspection that we are aware has been conducted during that time. This building has bedrooms that are equipped with single cylinder deadbolts locks that are operable from inside without the use of keys or special tools. A Fire Inspection Correction Notice dated November 9, 2010 lists a deficiency No. 5 that references as follows: "room doors MSFC 1003.3.1.8-remove unapproved locks from unit doors. The door must be openable from the inside without the use of keys or special knowledge or effort. Remove illegal locks". I cannot locate the code that referenced that.
