Appeal of Ellen Garbo and Leon Frid to a Fire Inspection Correction Notice at 1569 RACE STREET.
Purpose of Appeal
By this petition, I would like to file the appeal of Section 5 of the deficiency report having to do with the improper window sizes to provide escape from sleeping rooms. The property 1569 Race Street was built in the 1880's and is now nearly 130 years old. Obviously, building codes at the time were different than current regulations. The existing window cells are only 1 - 1.5" smaller than current code requirements and provide ample escape for an emergency exit. I would like to petition to have the property at 1569 Race St. be grandfathered in under the current codes due to it's age and construction. Modification of the existing windows in the house would place an unreasonable financial strain on us and may exceed the actual cost of the house in the market.
