Accepting a gift of travel, hotel and meal expenses from Living Cities related to staff attending the Sustainable Communities Boot Camp at Harvard University on January 10-12, 2011.
Body
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities was awarded a Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and
WHEREAS, Living Cities is sponsoring a Sustainable Communities Boot Camp at Harvard University for teams from a number of regions who received similar planning grants on January 10-12, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council selected a team from our region to attend the Sustainable Communities Boot Camp, a team that includes Mayor's Office staffperson Nancy Homans; and
WHEREAS, Living Cities has offered to pay for the flight, hotel and meal accommodations for all those attending the session; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that attendance at the Sustainable Communities Boot Camp will fulfill a public purpose by giving City staff the opportunity to meet with representatives of regions throughout the country as well as key federal agency staff to discuss effective regional community development strategies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City accepts the gift of airfare at a cost not to exceed $780, hotel at a cost not to exceed $520 and meal accommodations at a cost not to exceed $120 for Nancy Homans; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City thanks Living Cities for this opportunity.
