Approving the Mayor’s appointments of members to the Saint Paul Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP) Update Advisory committee of the Climate Justice Advisory Board.

WHEREAS, on December 17, 2019, the Saint Paul City Council approved the Saint Paul Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP), which sets goals, targets, and strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in a fair and equitable way and addressing the ways in which a changing climate threatens the health and well-being of Saint Paul residents and businesses; and
WHEREAS, a key recommendation in the Saint Paul Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP) is to complete an update every five years to track progress and ensure the latest innovations, technologies and best practices are incorporated into implementation; and
WHEREAS, the creation of the Climate Justice Advisory Board was also recommended in the Saint Paul Climate Action and Resilience Plan, and the Board was established by resolution 20-999 of the Saint Paul City Council on July 22, 2020; and
WHEREAS, the Climate Justice Advisory Board formed an ad hoc Climate Action and Resilience Plan Update Advisory committee to advise City staff and its consultants throughout the CARP update and five-year action plan development process to be chaired by a member of Saint Paul’s Climate Justice Advisory Board and include members from community-based organizations, businesses, academia, non-profit organizations, local units of government and residents; and
WHEREAS, Abi Phillips, Amy Stanton, Angela Vreeland, Antara Mandal, Carren B. LaBrasseur, Cate Stacy, Chris Stevens, David Woods, Emma De Vera, Ethan Osten, Grace Finnerty, Ianni Houmas, Joan Pasiuk, Nura Ahmed, Patricia Enstad, Patrick Hamilton, Rachel Newinski, Robert Blake, Shevek McKee, Tina Gassman and Xiem applied to serve on the Saint Paul Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP) Update Advisory committee of the Climate Justice Advisory Board; and
