Approving a grant application to the MnDOT State Funded IIJA Technical Assistance Program.
Body
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has allocated $2 million in state general funds available for grants to local units of government to hire consultants to provide technical assistance in identifying and applying for transportation-related federal discretionary grants authorized by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA); and
WHEREAS eligible applicants include Minnesota political subdivisions (i.e., townships, small cities, state aid cities, counties, and tribal governments), including the City of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, in collaboration with the Saint Paul Port Authority, desires to seek federal IIJA funding to advance planning efforts for a comprehensive multimodal initiative to improve critical infrastructure at the Southport Intermodal Terminal (SIT) by enhancing safety, reliability, and critical connections; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council expressly provides its support for the City of Saint Paul to submit a grant application to the Minnesota Department of Transportation for $30,000 from the State Funded IIJA Technical Assistance Program; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that should the City be awarded grant funds for this application, the Saint Paul City Council authorizes the appropriate City departments to enter into one or more grant agreement(s) with the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
