Approving the Mayor’s appointment of Councilmember Cheniqua Johnson to the Board of Water Commissioners for a temporary term beginning on May 1, 2024.

WHEREAS, Section 15.03 of the City Charter provides that the Board of Water Commissioners (BWC) shall consist of six (6) commissioners, three of whom must be members of the Saint Paul City Council, appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Nelsie Yang currently serves as the Vice President of the BWC and has notified the BWC that she will be on leave beginning April 15, 2024, and intends to return in early August; and
WHEREAS Councilmember Cheniqua Johnson expressed an interest in serving as a commissioner on the BWC while Councilmember Yang is on leave and is currently a Saint Paul City Council member representing the Seventh Ward; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter wishes to appoint Councilmember Cheniqua Johnson to the BWC during the time that Councilmember Yang is on leave, said term to begin on May 1, 2024; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council consents to appointing Councilmember Cheniqua Johnson as a commissioner on the Board of Water Commissioners for a term beginning May 1, 2024.
