Authorizing the Department of Emergency Management to apply for an annual Emergency Management Performance grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Emergency Management is responsible for the maintenance and administration of a comprehensive emergency management and homeland security program within the City; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Emergency Management requests permission to apply for and if awarded, accept the $30,000 annual Emergency Management Performance grant from FEMA; and
WHEREAS, grant funds would allow the Department of Emergency Management to cover emergency management related costs such as parking, conferences, training, etc; and
WHEREAS, there is a 100% match amount required of these funds by the City that can be met with the siren maintenance contract and siren electric bills in-kind match; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the Director of Emergency Management to apply for, and if approved, accept said grant and utilize funds as approved for the project herein.
