Authorizing the Fire Department to apply for the 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) in the amount of $1,351,050 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide paramedic training and peer group support and purchase fire hose, turnout gear, fire extinguisher trainer, and power loads for ambulances.

WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to apply for the 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) to provide paramedic training for 12 paramedics, provide peer group support, purchase fire hose, turnout gear, a fire extinguisher trainer, and power loads for ambulances; and
WHEREAS, the grant amount would be $1,351,050 of which the federal government would provide $1,228,227.27 to support the grant; and
WHEREAS, the grant requires a 10% match of $122,822.73 which would be paid from the fire department's budget over the two years of the grant period of performance; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the Fire Department to apply for the 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant.
