Authorizing the Fire Department to pay for all travel expenses of airfare, lodging, and meals for Ken Adams, a retired Saint Paul Fire Department employee to attend the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) conference from May 14-16, 2024 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department is seeking approval to pay for all travel expenses which include airfare, lodging, and meals not to exceed $1,200 for Ken Adams, a retired Saint Paul Fire Department employee to attend the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) conference from May 14-16, 2024 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania;
WHEREAS, Ken Adams is a retired EMS Coordinator who was involved in the work at Station 51 and the EMS Academy from the beginning; and
WHEREAS, the NASEMSO has invited three Saint Paul Fire Department employees to attend the conference and share experiences with the programs that were started with City of Saint Paul at Station 51 and the EMS Academy; and
WHEREAS, the NASEMSO will be covering the cost of Ken Adams conference registration - see RES 24-318; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose of these travel expenses is for the Saint Paul Fire Department employees to discuss the history and knowledge of our EMS Academy and related programs with other departments attending the conference; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the travel expenses for a former Saint Paul Fire Department employee to attend this conference to be paid from the Fire Department general fund.
