Honoring Saint Paul Veterans on Veterans Day, November 11, 2023.

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council recognizes with great respect those who serve to defend our rights and freedoms, and whose service will never be forgotten; and
WHEREAS, Veterans are proud of their military service in defending our nation and there is distinct honor in serving to protect our way of life and the Constitution of the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of the people of Saint Paul, we pause to thank our city employees who serve in uniform serving today and who have served in the past; we honor you today and every day and express our gratitude for the City of Saint Paul’s Veteran employees who serve our nation with honor and distinction in the midst of risks and sacrifices; and
WHEREAS, City of Saint Paul recognizes the ongoing work to ensure the inclusion and acceptance of our Veterans as part of an equitable city vision; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul established the Veteran Employee Resource Network (V-ERN) to recognize and support the selfless and innumerable contributions of our Veterans; and
WHEREAS, Abraham Lincoln stated “Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country's cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause”; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul appreciates the families, friends, agencies, and employers who support our Veterans throughout this great City; therefore be it
RESOLVED that the Saint Paul City Council publicly honors all Veterans for their dedication, sacrifice, and service on Veterans Day, November 11, 2023.
