Authorizing the City on behalf of the Police Department (“SPPD”) to accept, and amend the special fund for $1,146,000 from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for the Enforcement Grant Program 2024 program.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, has been awarded a grant of $1,146,000 in funds from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for the Enforcement Grant Program 2024 program; and
WHEREAS, the grant will be for the SPPD’s Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Unit to prevent injuries, deaths and property damage from crashes; and
WHEREAS, the grant also includes funds for subgrants to eight neighboring law enforcement agencies, who are also participating in the Enforcement activities funded by the grant; and
WHEREAS, the grant includes a match requirement of $2500, which can be fulfilled through already-budgeted funds; and
WHEREAS, the 2023 financing and spending plans need to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation total revenues in excess of those estimated in the budget, funds of $1,146,000 in the Special Fund; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor, that $1,146,000 is available for appropriation in the Police Department Special Fund, as heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby further amended in the particulars as specified in the attached financial analysis.
