Approving the Mayor’s appointment of Gloria Contreras Edin to the Capitol Area Vitality Task Force.

WHEREAS, during the 2023 Session of the Minnesota Legislature, SF3035/HF2427 was passed and signed Governor Tim Walz City establishing the Capitol Area Community Vitality Account; and
WHEREAS, the legislation creating the Capitol Area Community Vitality Account established the Capitol Area Community Vitality Task Force to consider and develop recommendations for the administration, program plan, and oversight of the Capitol Area community vitality account; and
WHEREAS, the Capitol Area Community Vitality Task Force is to issue a report with its recommendations no later than February 1, 2024; and
WHEREAS, under this legislation the Capitol Area Community Vitality Task Force has eleven members, four of which must be residents, businesspeople, or members of local organizations in the Capitol Area, appointed by the mayor of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter previously appointed with city council approval (RES 23-1091) Hannah Hills, Emmanuel Donaby, and Tahnea Brown to the Capitol Area Community Vitality Task Force, leaving a remaining vacant seat; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter wishes to appoint Gloria Contreras Edin, a local attorney and property owner with the Capitol Area boundaries, to the Capitol Area Community Vitality Task Force; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves Mayor Carter’s appointment of Gloria Contreras Edin to the Capitol Area Vitality Task Force.
