Approving the Mayor’s appointment of Josiah Hunt and reappointment of Michelle Furrer to serve on the Our Fair Carousel Board of Directors.

WHEREAS, Our Fair Carousel (OFC) is the non-profit owner and operator of Cafesjian's Carousel located at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory; and
WHEREAS, OFC is governed by a board of 15 members who volunteer their time and skills in such areas as accounting, marketing, fund-raising, historic preservation, carousel operation, and business; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul appoints three members of the board: one from the Como neighborhood, one from Ramsey County outside of Saint Paul, and one an administrator with the Parks and Recreation Division; and
WHEREAS, Michelle Furrer, Director of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, qualifies as an administrator with the Parks and Recreation Department and currently serves on the board; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation staff recommend Josiah Hunt, a resident of the Como neighborhood, is to serve as the neighborhood representative in the seat previously held by Trude Harmon; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter wishes to appoint Josiah Hunt as a member of the OFC board and reappoint Michelle Furrer as a member of the OFC board; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves the appointment of Josiah Hunt and reappointment of Michelle Furrer as members of the Our Fair Carousel Board of Directors for a term ending October 31, 2025.
